Our Story

We make our applesauce the old fashioned way, cooked in small kettles, using the whole apple including the peel. There is no water or sugar added. The result is a delicious, healthy treat that you and your family can enjoy any time.

Vermont Village is proud to be at the forefront of the organic foods movement providing consumers with the best USDA organic foods and encouraging and supporting organic farmers by providing a market for their produce. Our fruits are grown using no chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides or herbicides. We are inspected each year by a third party USDA certified organic inspector. All aspects of our process are scrutinized to ensure compliance with the USDA organic guidelines and we meet and exceed all food safety standards.

APPLESAUCE brownies

1 ½ cup sugar
½ cup butter
2 eggs
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoons salt
2 cups Vermont Village Unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Cream together sugar and butter.
Add eggs.
Sift cocoa, salt, baking soda and flour and add sugar to mixture, slowly, alternating with the applesauce.
Mix in chocolate chips.
Pour batter into 10” X 15” inch pan.
Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes.

 

oatmeal APPLESAUCE cookies

1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 egg whites
2 cup rolled oats (quick cooking)
2 cup all purpose flour
1 cup Vermont Village Unsweetened Applesauce
1/2 cup raisins, chopped

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Grease baking sheet.
Mix flour, baking powder, allspice, and salt. Beat butter and sugar until creamy.
Add egg whites; beat well.
Add dry ingredients.
Stir in oats, applesauce, and raisins. Mix well. Drop by level tablespoonfuls onto baking sheet.
Bake 11 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on rack.
Makes 5 dozen.
